Sony a900
Camera Review - Sony a900.
With so much resolution to play with, the a900 is Sony’s first full frame Digital SLR that positively competes with it rivals Nikon and Canon.
Sony’s latest digital SLR the a900 is built with a magnesium body and has an aluminium chassis with a new Dual Bionz image processor that improves quality and performance. It is equipped with a 9 point AF system. Compared with other Digital SLR’s it is in line with the Canon EOS 5D MK11.
The a900 also offers AF Micro adjustment that allows you to fine tune the AF on Lenses. The Sony a900 offers three metering modes that are selected using a small dial on the rear of the camera. Exposure bracketing is available in 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 or 2 increments. The shutter delivers a fast 5 frames a second at full resolution and also offers bracketing for white balance and the Dynamic Range Optimiser.
The Sony a900 is good and functional. It is equipped with a Steady Shot Inside image stabilisation that is advanced and one of the best that you will find. The 24.6- Megapixels sensor give 35.9 x 24 mm coverage, which retains the correct focal length with the attached lens. The sensor is also protected from dust thanks to the dual anti dust system.

With such a large sensor images capture a lot of detail and are clear and sharp. Images are well balanced in terms of colour and contrast and the D-range optimiser picks out shadow detail very well.
Image noise is not an issue with the lower setting and is non-existing up to ISO 1600. At ISO 6400 noise is visible but not at high levels. The Sony a 900 can also handle low light conditions well. At ISO 800 images are not degraded.
Buying the Sony a 900 is one of the cheapest ways to get full frame DSLR and you also get a lot of resolution for the price too. This is a very high quality camera and has plenty of great features to justify the price tag.
