    Camera Review - Sony a350

The cheapest 14-megapixel DSLR you can lay your hands on, the Sony a350 has plenty of features and is extremely good value for money.

Sony’s a350 model could be classed as the same as the a300, but this version comes with a much better 14.2-megapixel resolution. Its overall performance is very good and it is capable of producing well exposed, pin sharp images.

The a350 is very simple to use and has a solid feel to it. Colour accuracy is generally very good with skin tones in portraits extremely accurate. Accurate colours were also produced with low light, long exposures. Noise became evident at ISO 3200 but at low levels.

Compared with other digital cameras the a350 offers great value. The viewfinder is bright and offers 95 percent coverage. It has built-in dust removal and image stabilisation. Its metering system offers good exposure and is also sharp. The LCD screen can also be tilted and offers live view.

    Key Features
     14.2-megapixel.
     ISO 100 to 3200.
     2.7 in LCD screen.
     Fast USB Transfer Speed.
     Raw and Jpeg file format.
Continuous boost mode at 2.4 frames per second.
     Anti dust technology.
Like all digital cameras there are pros and cons with the Sony a350. The main pros for the a350 are that it is an easy camera to learn and use, it has an excellent resolution for its price, the ISO performance is very good even in low light and it also produces excellent results in harsh light. USB transfer speed is very fast and the battery life is excellent.

The cons for the a350 are few. The main ones being that the popup flash doesn’t go very high and has a poor wide angle coverage. It also has a smaller optical viewfinder than the earlier Sony models and the start up and shut down times are slow.

The Sony a350 is an easy camera to recommend and is extremely good value for money. It is the cheapest 14-megapixel DSLR you can lay your hands on, and has plenty of easy to use features.
