Samsung GX-20

Camera Review - Samsung GX-20
If you are looking for value for money with a high pixel count, you won’t go too far wrong buying the Samsung GX-20.
The Samsung GX-20 has one of the highest pixel counts of any digital cameras in its range. It boasts a 14.6 Megapixels sensor that produces quite decent images. Using the lower ISO setting noise is not noticeable but at the higher levels noise is quite visible.
Image colour is also very good at the lower ISO settings but poor using the higher ISO settings. It has an 11 point auto-focusing system and in live view the focusing can be activated by pressing the AF button on the rear of the camera.
One of the biggest advantages of this camera is that it is compatible with Pentax Lenses and accessories. Other advantages of the GX-20 are built-in dust reduction and built-in image stabilisation. It can handle 3 frame per second continuous shooting in Raw.
Main Key Features
ISO of between 100 and 6400.
14.6 Megapixels CMOS Sensor.
2.7 inch monitor.
File types: Jpeg, Raw.
11 auto-focusing points.
Built in dust reduction
3 frame per second continuous shooting.
The GX-20 is currently Samsungs flagship DSLR and features my options for the serious photographer. They have omitted subject based programs and are using standard PASM modes as well as ISO priority and a combined shutter priority and aperture priority mode that are extremely useful.
The Samsung GX-20 is a well built and sturdy camera. It has a total of 72 seals which combine to resist any moisture or dust damaging its technology. Its rubbery feel is very comfortable to hold. Taking images with the Samsung GX-20 is made easier with an Enhanced Digital Filter that allows a great range of exposures.
The GX-20 is reasonable value for its quality. You can buy the kit price that includes 18-55mm for less than 700 dollars. The body only will cost you $650.
