Blurring skies in Photoshop.
Sometimes our landscape images need help, we would like to make them more dramatic - a simple way of doing this is to create movement in the sky. It is always better to create this with the camera by using a long shutter speed, but this is not always possible.
If you own Photoshop Elements 2.0, it is the perfect tool for editing your pictures. This takes about five minutes to complete and will certainly add mood to your image.
First step is to open the image that you want to blur and save a copy of the original appearance.
Once done you are ready to begin.
Choose the Rectangular marquee from your list of tools. Then drag the box over the area you want to change.
Go to: Select > Feather enter the value of 10 in the pixels box - click ok. This will blend the transition from sky to horizon.
The second step is to blur the sky.
Go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur
To adjust the amount of blur drag the slider. The amount you drag the slider is up to you - the more you drag it the more blur you will create. Don’t overdo it - it will destroy your image. You can also adjust the angle of the blur by entering a number in the angle box.
Once you are happy with your image click ok.
Save and print your image.
This tool can be used to change colours in many different ways. Return weekly to learn more Photoshop skills.
