    Camera Review - Pentax K2000

If you are looking for a small but affordable Digital SLR the K2000 is capable of producing decent results at a reasonable rate.

The K2000 is aimed at the amateur photographer who is looking for a low cost camera that is easy to use, compact, and has an interchangeable lens system that is affordable.

Pentax’s K2000 digital SLR is an upgrade from the K200. It’s 10.2-megapixel CCS sensor is big enough to give you decent size images. Its ISO range is between 100 and 3200, which is one stop more the K200. It can handle 3.5 frames per second and has a 2.7in, 230,000 pixel monitor, which is big enough to compose your image and change settings.

The Pentax K2000 is a lightweight camera (640g), made out of plastic and stainless steel. It downsized the AF system from 11 to 5 making it less complicated. It is also one of the few entry level cameras to have image stabilization. Lenses for the K2000 are also designed to weigh less and are more compact.

    Main Key Features

ISO of between 100 and 3200.
     10.2 Megapixels CCS Sensor.
     2.7in, 230,000 pixel monitor.
     Dust and shake reduction.
     File types: Jpeg, Raw
     3.5 frames per second.
The Pentax K2000 is an excellent affordable camera for anyone starting out in photography. It is geared at the amateur who is used to using a compact camera and is looking for a reasonably priced change. It has plenty of quality features and is extremely easy to use.

The K2000 can be bought for less than 500 US dollars, which also includes an 18-55 lens and an AF 200fg flash. The only downside to the K2000 is that its lacks colour in cold condition and images will need to be edited in Photoshop. This is not a problem for anyone with Photoshop skills, but can be a negative for someone starting out in photography.

Pentax’s K2000 is ideal for any amateur photographer who frequently travels. Its fast motor works very well in cold conditions and is very light and portable.
