Filing digital images

Is there any software available to store images. I have thousands of imaages stored on my computer, anytime i go looking for an image it takes me forever to find. I realy interesting in finding a software systmem that will store and label images for me.

I wish to upload multiple images from my digital camera onto my computer.
No difficulty there.
I don’t know how to combine all of these images into one file.
(I suppose that would be a multiple-page Acrobat file)
