Photographing firework

There is a festival in my local town with a large firework display. I never took of images of fireworks before and would like to be able to capture it. I know it is not a case at pointing my camera at the sky and pressing the shutter. Can anyone pass on some tips.

My advice is to set your camera on a tripod and use a wide angle lens. Set the ISO to 200, the Aperture to F/16 and the shutter speed to 1/125. This should give you a desent exposure for the fireworks display. This is just a guide an equivalent combination of shutter speed and aperture will do.
